Fiesta ® dinnerware is one of America's best loved
dinnerware patterns of all time. Just about everyone knows someone who has
got some of it. Often imitated, the original bold colors and concentric
circles are recognizable as Fiesta ® dinnerware from across the room.
The Homer Laughlin China Company company introduced Fiesta ® dinnerware in 1936.
Frederick Rhead was the designer responsible for the pattern, which was intended
to have a hand crafted look with Art Deco streamlining. The introduction of the
everyday ware coincided with the social trend of less formality at the dinner table.
The Homer Laughlin China Company and its retailers encouraged people to mix and
match all the various colors to form bright and varied tabletops. Fiesta ® dinnerware
was an inexpensive treat for middle class families trying to manage during the
depression.
The cheerful colors, the low prices and the durability made the ware very
popular and the pattern became a huge success. So successful, that the pattern
was produced in one form or another through the 1970s. And, it was reintroduced
in 1986 with great fanfare and many new colors. Fiesta ® dinnerware continues to be
The Homer Laughlin China Company's most popular china pattern to this day.
